If you want to eat in a place that is authentic for the Japanese and not for the tourists, with Tempura, Funasbashiya is an option that will give you satisfaction.
A short walk from Shinjuku Station brings you to Funabashiya, the place to enjoy delicious and elegant tempura set meals. Amazingly fresh ingredients - shrimp, vegetables, fish - and mix, dip them in hot oil and serve while still hot. For a quick, elegant and delicious meal, there's no better place to eat tempura than at a restaurant that specializes in it. If you are shopping in Shinjuku, one of these places is Funabashiya. Funabashiya is a short 4-5 minute walk from Shinjuku Station. It's not particularly hard to find, but it can be a bit confusing in the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku. There are plenty of tempura set meals, and Hana - the second cheapest dish on the menu - costs JPY 2450. There are more expensive options with sashimi and compositions. Most of them create balanced, casual, beautiful and healthy meals.
