Azuki in Ueno prides itself on serving the finest “Sanuki Olives” wagyu sourced from cows on Shodoshima Island in Kagawa – the cattle spend their lives eating forage mixed with local olive oil

In Japan where food comes from, the owner is very important to restaurants and diners. Many places pride themselves on sourcing produce locally, and most restaurants maintain close relationships with the people who grow, fish, and hunt for the food you're eating. Some chefs can tell you exactly where the fish on your plate came from - and in some cases, who caught it! The Sukiyaki and shabu-shabu Azuki restaurant in Ueno is that kind of restaurant. They proudly serve meat sourced entirely from Kagawa Prefecture - specifically Shodoshima Island. On the island of Shodoshima, there seem to be cows that spend their whole lives eating food mixed with locally produced olive oil. This makes the beef incredibly tender and juicy, and it has a wonderful richness that makes any dish with it super memorable.

If you don't eat beef, you don't have to give up the fun. Azuki also serves 'olive pork', 'Sanuki chicken' and seafood variations in their sukiyaki and shabu-shabu hotpot dishes, so every other meat eater gets served in some way!

On average, you can spend about ¥5000~¥8000/person for dinner if you eat beef. After experiencing you will find the food and service here are well worth the cost and also make a great story.
