The Nazarbayev Center was built for the purpose of promoting research and storing information on the history of the formation of the state of Kazakhstan. The basic operating principle of the center is to contribute to arousing and strengthening the patriotism and national pride of Kazakh citizens; especially promoting interaction between state agencies, scientific-cultural organizations, civil society, and the media on the dissemination of the history of Kazakhstan. Since its inception, the center has promoted diplomatic development between Kazakhstan and countries around the world in the political, social and humanitarian fields, and enhanced the status and role of Kazakhstan. on the world map.
The Nazarbayev Center is a huge archive and library of the President of Kazakhstan located on the main road connecting the Presidential Palace and the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation. The building has a special shape, like a giant eye looking up to the sky, placed in the middle of a large, formal landscaped garden, topped by a 90-meter-long glass calyx overlooking the Presidential Palace and neighboring kingdoms. With an area of nearly 20,000 square meters, the building is a multifunctional area storing important administrative documents of the Government Investment Fund, along with public event spaces, exhibition halls and a library. .
The building faces North, directly opposite the Presidential Palace. The highlight is that the building's facade is made of white marble to reveal a giant glass lens. Each marble on the facade is only 15 millimeters thick. Shallow glass dome, supported by a solid steel frame. The interior areas are built according to a unique design, with a large skylight in the ground floor area allowing natural sunlight for the whole building. Tables and chairs in the conference and library areas are arranged towards the skylight, creating a dynamic space that inspires creativity in research.
On the grounds of the Nazarbayev center there is also a museum displaying various artifacts and gifts presented to President Nazarbayev over the years. There is also the Library of the First President of Kazakhstan. The center also regularly organizes exhibitions, about the history of state formation in Kazakhstan. The exhibitions are conducted according to research and cultural cooperation with museums, scientific, historical and cultural institutions of Kazakhstan and countries around the world.
