Museum of the First President

Established by Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on August 28, 2004, the First President Museum is the most comprehensive overview of the life and career of the first Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev. . It displays documents, scientific books written by Mr. Nazarbaev, a collection of gifts, awards and many other interesting items related to the life and career of the first president of Kazakhstan.

Inaugurated in March 2005, Museum of the First President is a famous attraction of Nursultan city, attracting many domestic and foreign tourists. The museum displays unique archives and scientific books written by the first president of Kazakhstan, a collection of extremely valuable gifts from many countries around the world and the people of Kazakhstan for the president. Nazarbayev, prizes and many other interesting items. All exhibits provide an overview of the life and political career of the first president of Kazakhstan.

The museum is located on the grounds of President Nazarbayev's former office, which he used until early 2000 after moving back to Nursultan from the ancient capital Almaty. The building has a traditional yurt-inspired design, typical of Central Asian nomadic culture, with a sparkling blue dome.

True to its name, the museum's artifacts are mostly related to the first President of Kazakhstan. Some of the museum's exhibits give you an insight into the struggle for independence and generalize the entire history of the country's formation and development. Walking around the museum grounds, visitors will have the opportunity to know more about the working, living and dining places of the first President at the old Presidential Palace. And certainly, when entering the area displaying gifts of the President, visitors will be amazed when witnessing with their own eyes the exquisitely crafted fancy items such as: a carving of a walrus from Canada, a ram-horn dagger from Tajikistan, a silver wine set from Uzbekistan, or a delicate Chinese bone sculpture.

The museum is open from 10.00 AM to 12.15 PM, from 02.00 PM to 04.15 PM, weekdays and there is no entrance fee. Visitors are not allowed to take pictures inside the museum.
