Kagizen Yoshifuda, located in the South Higashiyama area, is one of the oldest and most prized tea and cake shops in Kyoto.

Since its founding in the 18th century, Kagizen Yoshifusa has been serving up fine Japanese confectionery for 300 years. A Kyoto guidebook published in 1869 described it as "the most famous Japanese confectionery shop in Kyoto." Kagizen Yoshifusa produces a wide variety of Japanese sweets, from fresh and colorful seasonal sweets for large and small tea ceremony parties to casual sweets for daily tea. One of their longstanding popular items is the Kikujuto sugar candy. Sugar candy using the best quality sugar is shaped into a small chrysanthemum flower shape. There is a wooden mold to make this sugar candy, it is dated 1865. Sugar is a special type called wasanbon, from Awa (Tokushima prefecture on Shikoku island) with texture. and mild sweetness. Another signature item of Kagizen Yoshifusa is Kuzu-kiri, a transparent sweet vermicelli made from tapioca starch, which has been popular in the Gion area since the early Showa period (1926-1988). Natural tapioca starch, brown sugar and water are the only ingredients, so it's very simple and its firm yet smooth texture will leave an unforgettable feeling after you experience it. Cherishing old tools and production techniques, Kagizen Yoshifusa's tastes are always appreciated by the people of Gion
