Mount Hallasan

Hallasan Mountain is a massive shield volcano located in the center of Jeju Island with an altitude of 1,947m and visitors can see the mountain anywhere on the island.

At the top of the mountain is a crater 108m deep and 550m wide that erupted thousands of years ago. Even so, the original volcanic landscape is still well preserved. The summit of Hallasan is composed of two types of lava with completely different physical properties. While on the western side, lava is viscous, on the east side, the lava is steep and rough.

Not only famous for its altitude and special nature, Hallasan also attracts visitors by its vertical flora ecosystem by the difference in temperature along the mountainside and more than 1,800 species of plants and 4,000 species of animals. Visitors can enjoy exploring the nature here by walking along the hiking trails.
