Profile
From the outside, Tan Dinh church appears like a pink fairy castle against the clear blue sky in the middle of bustling Ho Chi Minh City. Its color contrasts with the golden sunlight creating a dreamy scene. Located on a busy street, almost anyone passing by must admire the unique beauty of this hundred-year-old church.
The church was built in a splendid Roman architecture mixed with a beautiful Gothic style. The church has 3 parts: the main tower and 2 auxiliary towers, surrounded by a series of arched corridors. All are painted pink. The interior of the church is richly decorated, including two beautiful colonnades leading to the main altar.
The most prominent is the main bell tower 52.6m high, looking from afar you will see the octagonal top of the tower, on which there is a 3m high bronze cross, this is a familiar image in most churches. Standing under the dome and next to the green coconut trees to admire, you will be overwhelmed by the splendor of this work.
Along with the main tower are two auxiliary towers with many light columns and many windows. On the walls of the towers there are many delicate and fancy patterns. The towers are designed with domes forming a unique corridor right in front. The circular tiles covering the roofs combined with the round doorways make the church more mysterious. Inside the towers, there are 5 bells weighing about 5.5 tons, contributing to the architectural value of Tan Dinh Church.
Going inside, the sanctuary appears luxurious and superficial with two solid Gothic columns creating a path to the main altar. Thanks to a wealthy local family, the church received three Italian marble altars donated in 1929.
Tan Dinh Church was built in 1876 and restored in 1976 on the 100th anniversary of its establishment. Today, Tan Dinh Church has become a famous destination in Saigon for most domestic and international tourists because of its unique color and beautiful architecture. This is also a frequent place for young Saigon people to check in and live virtual, in which many photographers, both professional and amateur, choose this place to take pictures.
As a religious work, Tan Dinh church also regularly organizes charity activities to help disadvantaged people. Ho Chi Minh City people and tourists often come here to listen to lectures at the shrine and pray for good things and peace. Others come here to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Late in the afternoon, the sound of bells ringing throughout the area makes people feel at ease after a tiring day of work. Although it has undergone many renovations, Tan Dinh Church still retains its original beauty.
