The Auezov Theater was officially opened for the first time at the end of 1925 in the city of Kyzylorda, once the capital of Kazakhstan. The first play took place on January 13, 1926 as "Sakina Altyn" ("Golden Ring") by Koshka Kemengerov and was choreographed by Seraly Kozhamkulov and large orchestra.

In 1928, the theater was moved to Almaty, where it began to create artistic breakthroughs with many classics with the participation of Kazakhtan folk art masters and amateurs.
