Dong Da Go on Tay Son Street, Dong Da District, has two gates: the main gate on Tay Son Street and another on Dang Tien Dong Street.
In 1962, Dong Da mound was one of the first 12 sites of Hanoi recognized as a national monument. On the 200th anniversary of the victory in 1989, Dong Da cultural park was inaugurated, including Dong Da mound, a statue of Nguyen Hue - who was later proclaimed as Emperor Quang Trung - a gallery and a playground. The complex has a total area of 22,000 square meters.
Dong Da Mound, a natural hill from many centuries ago, protects the western access road of Thang Long, the old name of Hanoi. On the top of the hill with many trees is a stone stele engraved with the proclamation of King Quang Trung. There is also a temple for martyrs and mandarins with meritorious services to the nation. Most of the temple was damaged, except for the entrance gate.
The statue of King Quang Trung was erected next to Dong Da mound on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da victory. The statue, which is 15 meters tall and weighs 200 tons, is made of reinforced concrete, has a marble exterior and is covered with a bronze layer similar to dragon scales. The two sides of the statue are intricately carved, depicting the advance of the Tay Son army at several points around Hanoi before the final victory at Dong Da.
Behind the statue of King Quang Trung is his temple. The two-storey building was built in 2010 on the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi. His altar is located on the upper floor, roofed with double tiles, while the artifacts and photos of the Tay Son army's advance are on the lower floor, where there are also artifacts introduced to the Tay Son dynasty (1778-1802). ) and Dong Da mound assembly.
The festival is held on the 5th day of the first lunar month to celebrate the historic victory in 1789 to liberate Thang Long citadel. The festival features sacrifice rituals, palanquin processions, martial arts performances, folk games and the re-enactment of the Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da battle. The functional agencies of Hanoi are preparing a dossier to submit to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to request recognition of the Dong Da Hill festival as a national intangible cultural heritage.
