Cai Lan Temple is a very sacred temple, an indispensable spring destination in the first days of the year of Ha Long people.

Cai Lan Temple currently has two temples, a new temple and an old temple. The old Cai Lan Temple is located in the campus of Cai Lan Port, one of the major deep-water ports of Vietnam. The temple dedicated to Mau Thoai, the ruler of the river, is also one of the rare temples dedicated to Mother Thoai. Many people believe that the temple was built in the Tran Dynasty. When Tran Hung Dao realized that this area was an important strategic location where the 6 estuaries emptied into the sea, he built here a temple, the incense sticks were taken from the temple of Mau Thac Han Son. in Ha Trung and Thanh Hoa districts to protect the temple. Therefore, the temple becomes very sacred, many people in the city come here to burn incense on the full moon and first day of the lunar calendar. When building and expanding Cai Lan Port area, people moved the temple to a new location on the opposite hill. But since the old temple was abandoned, many strange and bad phenomena have happened in the port area. Therefore, after moving the temple to a new location, some time after 2009, a small temple was rebuilt in Cai Lan port area.

The new Cai Lan Temple was built on top of the hill, opposite the old temple. From the parking lot to the temple, visitors will have to walk more than 100 steps to reach the main shrine area. The main shrine is still to worship Mother Thoai, it is the sacredness of Mother Thoai that seafarers and merchants around the city often come to the temple on New Year's holidays to pray for luck and go to the sea. favorable, always trade expensive. From the top of the new temple, visitors can zoom down to see the bustling panorama of Cai Lan port, the busy lines of cars going in and out of the port. At the beginning of the new year, the old and new temples are crowded by local people to burn incense, pray for peace and health for a new year.
