Wat Thai can be seen from everywhere in Kushinagar, which makes it even more interesting. This is one of the holy places in Kushinagar, nestled among the sprawling greenery, it covers a large area making it one of the ideal peaceful destinations.
Wat Thai was designed to serve as a forest monastery. The location of Wat Thai Temple, Kushinagar has a rich variety of flora where you can find various flowers, orchids and trees. Wat Thai was built to commemorate the golden holy year when King Bhumibol ascended the throne of Thailand. It is now one of the major tourist attractions. The construction of the temple was inaugurated by Somdej Phra Yansangvara, the supreme elder of the Kingdom of Thailand on February 21, 1999. It was completed and opened to the public in 2001. donations from Tahi Buddhists.
The temple was built in the Thai Buddhist architectural style, located in a huge complex spread over an area of 40,000 square meters. Besides the temple, the complex also houses a monastery, garden, medical center, school and library. It is one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in Kushinagar and is specially visited by thousands of pilgrims from Thailand every year. Its massive structure can be seen from all parts of the city.
