“Strewn across the Han River, Banpo has the longest bridge fountain in the world”

Banpo Bridge is the top half of the first two-story bridge built in Korea. It was completed nearly 40 years ago, in 1982. Stretching across the Han River, the bridge has the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain, running for a total length of 570 meters on both sides, it is recognized by the Book of Century. recognized by the Guinness World Records as the longest bridge fountain in the world, with 380 water jets and a variety of brightly colored lights.

In the show 380 fountains draw water from the Han River below and spray it out, creating a sparkling musical and moving performance. A whopping 60 tons of water is used for every minute that Rainbow Moonlight works. The water gushed out to an unbelievable height of 43 meters before falling back 20 meters into the river. Visitors can view the fountain both day and night, but the most beautiful and ideal time is after sunset. At night, the Rainbow Moonlight Fountain is illuminated by a rainbow of 200 LED lights that highlight the splashes of water, as they dance in sync to different music tunes.

Moonlight Rainbow Fountain operates from April to October every year, however, the fountain's performance schedule changes from month to month. Each performance lasts from 15 to 20 minutes. In addition, Banpo Hangang Park at the foot of the bridge also holds a "Moonlight Square Cultural Weekend" event every Saturday from 19:00 to 20:30, from May to October. This includes many live performances of many musical styles including classical music with commentary, a cappella singing, popera, jazz, brass band and orchestra.

Banpo Bridge is located almost in the exact center of the city, and connects the Secho districts to the south with Yongsan to the north. The southern end is a green space for picnics, where locals and visitors alike enjoy the Fountain's light show, or head to the Sevit Floating Islands. On weekends during the warmer months, visitors can explore Bamdokkaebi Night Market with its food carts and unique shopping stalls. Visitors can also enjoy views of Namsan and N Seoul Tower from the south.
