The place offers a glimpse into the past of the American South through cocktails made from spirits.

Alba Huerta - former general manager of the famous Anvil Bar and Refuge opened his own cocktail bar, called Julep, focusing on Southern spirits. Housed in an old building in the 1900 neighborhood of Houston's trendy Washington Avenue, Julep features an industrial-style space with brick and wood beams.

Julep serves Southern cocktails mostly with a rich history dating back to Antebellum built around spirits, with a focus on bourbon alongside an extensive menu of seafood dishes and bar snacks. .

Mint Julep - a simple blend of premium bourbon and sugar, served in a metal cup is the standout choice at Julep. Next to it is the New Orleans-inspired Ramos Gin Fizz, which includes gin, bourbon, citrus, cream, egg whites, milk and vanilla, then chilled with crushed ice.

Through cocktails at Julep, diners can somewhat imagine the luxurious life of the aristocracy of the South of America in the old days, or simply a bit of coolness in the sweltering days of Houston.
