Profile
Built between 1947 and 1952, this concrete apartment building was the first unit of Swiss architect Le Corbusier, a design that would be repeated throughout Europe during the period. post-war.
The idea was to transform the houses, streets and amenities of a city into an 18-story concrete block.
More than a thousand people still live here, but there's a tour that takes you inside one of the restored original apartments and onto a rooftop terrace where you can look out over the city.
In July 2016, like all Le Corbusier buildings, the Cité Radieuse building was also designated a historic site by the French Ministry of Culture and inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Address : 280 Boulevard Michelet, 13008 Marseille, France.
