Arbat is a pedestrian area in downtown Almaty. It is located on Jibek Joly Street, between Abylai Khan Avenue and Nazarbayev Street. This area has many fashion stores such as TsUM, Zara… or you can find a unique Silk Way shopping center or some small shops selling accessories and souvenirs.
Established in the late 1980s, Arbat was the first area in Almaty exclusively for pedestrians. The name is taken from Moscow's Arbat Street. The area was reconstructed in 2017, now has a fountain and is connected to the Panfilov Pedestrian Street.
Walking around Arbat, you will feel the variety of goods sold in the area. Arbat boasts stores of established brands such as Mango and Zara, and a number of local stores with exquisite, unique products. It is also famous for Tsum shops, which are loved by local residents with items used in everyday life.
