In the pure and simply decorated setting of GAON, three-Michelin-starred chef Kim Byoung-Jin has found a haven in Seoul's bustling cityscape to truly express herself. As the restaurant's master of art for the past 17 years, he has always celebrated the excellence of the products he chooses to express the deep flavors of each dish. The food he creates is a fusion of sophistication, perfectly complemented by the handcrafted crockery it is served on - a fusion of natural forms and ancestral noble enamelling techniques. . Both the cuisine and the decor come together in a harmonious combination of creativity and craftsmanship, reflecting the best of traditional Korean aesthetics.

Experienced owner Kim Myeong-sook has won numerous awards in the culinary industry including the First Prize at the Korea Food and Travel Expo and the Gold Award at the Korea International Cooking Competition. . The restaurant is ajumma certified and is also known for making wonderful culinary gifts for newlyweds, a long-standing Korean tradition of presenting the bride and groom with delicious sweets including including pyebaek and ibaji tteok. Especially the tteok made at Gaon is a favorite dish of many customers and it sells out early every day.

Gaon mainly focuses on providing high quality Korean food that nurtures and adheres to the aesthetics of Korean tradition and culture. Korean dishes are carefully prepared using some of the freshest seasonal ingredients beautifully presented in beautiful porcelain plates.

Gaon restaurant consists of 3 floors and each floor has a different unique texture and design. While one of the walls is designed using beautiful light colored slats, the walls on the other floor are designed using old newspaper. The menu is filled with distinctive Korean classics. Some of the signature dishes include the radish Kimchi that pairs well with delicious oysters and Haemool Pajun, an elaborately grilled pancake with scallops and squid which are some of the must-order dishes when you visit Gaon.

The wine list at Gaon is also extensive with traditional Korean drinks and a large collection of other popular liquors sourced from around the world.
