Ancient Bai Dinh Pagoda

On the opposite side of Dinh Mountain, the new section of Bai Dinh Pagoda, constructed since 2003, spans 80 hectares. This area houses iconic structures such as the Tam Thế Temple, Pháp Chủ Temple, and Quan Âm Temple, along with the Great Bell Tower and a dormitory for monks. Crafted with local materials like Ninh Bình green stone and Bát Tràng ceramic tiles, the construction reflects Vietnamese tradition. This cultural preservation involves local artisans from Phu Loc woodworking, Ninh Van stone carving, and Yen bronze casting villages, showcasing the beauty of Vietnamese craftsmanship.
Religious and Cultural Significance
The Tam The Temple and Phap Chu Temple, with statues representing the past, present, and future, emphasize Bai Dinh’s historical and cultural value. Phap Chu Temple houses a 100-ton bronze Buddha, the largest in Vietnam, crafted by skilled artisans. The Bell Tower features a remarkable 36-ton bell, while the Bodhisattva Temple holds a statue of Avalokitesvara with a thousand hands and eyes, symbolizing universal compassion. A collection of 500 Arhat statues lines the hillside, each with unique postures, creating an awe-inspiring and lively spiritual atmosphere.
