Profile
Founded in 2015 by two University professors who share a passion for food, Brera is the first authentic Italian restaurant in Seoul that focuses on atmosphere and family-style cuisine. Very popular among the expat community in Seoul in its early days, Brera quickly reached the Korean audience and became the most popular Italian restaurant in the city. Brera has been broadcast by many Korean television companies and has received several awards; In particular, the Italian Minister of Tourism gave Brera the "Ospitalita` Italiana" signboard, certifying and guaranteeing high quality standards.
Brera offers comfort Italian food, with a quest for perfection, consistency and authenticity of taste. Excellence is achieved through the use of fresh, seasonal ingredients; synchronization is ensured by both highly trained staff and the application of modern machinery; Authenticity is conferred by the importation of Italian products and the supervision of Italian citizens. The dining experience takes place in a unique casual atmosphere created by the presence of a diverse clientele of nationalities, ages and genders.
The superb quality of food that Brera serves is from chefs Savino Sguera, Flavia Severino and Augustin Entratico creating all the fresh pasta at home as well as real Roman-style pizza with a crispy, spongy crust. Giovanni is from Rome, but has a grandmother from Bologna and another from Campania. Maybe most of the ladies don't make fresh pasta every day, he admits, but on Sundays or special occasions, they always put on a show, using recipes passed down from generations to Giovanni. .
Diners who come to Brera on Sunday will feel like they've been treated to a hearty treat with not only pastas made with 100% Italian flour, but Giovanni and Flavia learning how to make cheese and making their own ricotta, robiola and mascarpone. Giovanni humbly: "We may not have the best Italian food in Seoul, but diners get a taste of what Italians eat every day."
Brera has a brunch menu that includes scamorza alla bismarck, Monsieur/madame croque, mone, huevos rotos and others. They also serve Panini bread, stuffed pasta, oil pasta, red sauce pasta, white sauce pasta, pizza, secondi piatti, non-alcoholic beverages, red and white wines, specialty wines, cocktails and desserts.
