Sacred Heart Church (French: Cathédrale du Sacré-Cœur), also known as Buon Ma Thuot Cathedral, is a religious building belonging to the Catholic Church. Construction of the church began in 1957 and was completed in 1968 with space for 1200 people. The Roman rite church and principal church of the Diocese of Buon Ma Thuot, was founded in 1967 by Pope Paul VI of Qui Dei benignitate. This is the first mission in the highlands in Vietnam.
Coming to Sacred Heart Church, visitors will feel familiar with the design like a long house of the Ede people. It is made entirely of wood, bearing the unique characteristics of the people of the Central Highlands. Sacred Heart Church has a length of 45m, a width of 12m, located on an area of 828m2, where there is a spacious space that can accommodate up to 1,200 seats. The church has a unique and sophisticated architecture so that visitors can take souvenir photos with friends, relatives and family.
Initially, there were about 45 households living in the area near Sacred Heart Church and scattered in plantations. After the 1954 migration campaign in Vietnam, the number of parishioners increased to 4,000 people and is now 11,000 people. The economic life of parishioners is diverse with some components such as merchants, farmers, workers, doctors, engineers...
