“Food Festival held every June in Opera Square”

The inscription on the magnificent façade of Frankfurt's Old Opera House reads "Dem Wahren Schönen Guten" (A Sincere Kindness). The annual Opernplatzfest food festival in Frankfurt's Opera Square certainly embodies this truth. It pays homage to one of the most beautiful squares in Frankfurt, filling the city space with urbanism and pure vitality.

The first Opera Square festival took place in 1978. Former mayor of Frankfurt, Dr. Walter Wallmann was the one who devoted much enthusiasm to rebuilding the Opera. Thus, the Opera Square festival is his way of thanking the people and businesses nearby, who have suffered for so many years with roadblocks built in front of their premises.

Today, this outdoor feast for the senses offers colorful culinary delights from around the world and a wonderfully varied theater program that includes everything from jazz to pop live performances. To create a vibrant festival space for everyone to attend.
