In the past, Hoa Lu was the capital of Dai Co Viet (the old name of Vietnam). It is a magnificent palace capital with charming scenery. In 968, Dinh Bo Linh ascended the throne to take the title of King Dinh Tien Hoang, unified the country to take the name Dai Co Viet and Hoa Lu was the capital for 41 years (968 - 1009).

Mountains and sea combine to create a picturesque landscape of Hoa Lu Ancient Capital. Hoa Lu is located in a flat valley surrounded by Trang An limestone mountains, forming a natural wall to protect the ancient citadel. In the temple of King Dinh, there is a Long Sang (wharf for the king) made from monolithic stone, carved with many beautiful details. Next is the Thieu Huong house (where incense is burned) to worship the country's heroes. The last compartment is the harem with the statue of King Dinh Tien Hoang and his son (Dinh Lien), the sculptures on stone or wood with the themes of dragons, clouds, fairies, flowers ... decorated in the temple quite sophisticated. .

King Le Temple is about 500m from King Dinh Temple, worshiping King Le Dai Hai. The temple of King Le is smaller, but consists of 3 parts: Bai Duong (main courtyard), Thieu Huong, the main hall worshiping King Le Dai Hanh in the middle and his son Le Ngoa Trieu on the right and Queen Duong Van Nga on the left.

It also preserves many vestiges of ancient architecture with elaborate carvings. In this area, the ruins of the old palace and some ancient pottery have been found. These precious objects are kept in the museum to the left of the temple.

In addition to the temple of King Dinh and King Le, there are also some beautiful pagodas nearby such as Ngan Xuyen pagoda (near Ma Yen mountain), Nhat Tru pagoda (200m away from King Le temple) attracting many tourists to offer incense and sightseeing. .
