This is a majestic wooden temple like a floating castle in the sea at Ratchavete Cape beach. Every detail of this 105m-high structure is decorated with intricate carvings that tell spiritual stories in Thai folklore. Most of the stories depicted are rooted in Buddhism and Hinduism, but portray the idea that all religions are oriented towards the same truth, achieved by different paths and universal goals. called eternal peace.
Standing tall by the seashore and man-made lake, the Sanctuary of Truth possesses a rare peaceful atmosphere. A prime example of the human ability to fabricate natural materials, the structure is entirely made of untreated wood, held together by a series of wooden dowels, wedges, slots and grooves without Need a metal nail.
This temple is described as an outstanding monument to Thai craftsmanship, with beautifully detailed carvings of elephants, people and scenes, creatures and mythical gods. These motifs represent reverence and a reflection of the Ancient Vision of the Earth, Ancient Knowledge and Eastern Philosophy, and they adorn every surface - inside and outside - of the building. This is also a reflection of the ephemeral nature and constant human effort as no wood has been treated or protected from the elements, which means that the old parts gradually fail to withstand the damage. extremes of weather and climate and need to be replaced. The construction of the reserve, which began in 1981, is an ongoing and never-ending task.
The Sanctuary of Truth was formed from the vision that human civilization has been attained and nurtured by religious and philosophical truth; in other words, made of good things drawn from religion, philosophy and art. Through intricate carvings and sculptures, it honors seven creators that humans cannot exist without: Heaven, Earth, Father, Mother, Moon, Sun, and stars. Deep within all of this are ancient Buddhism, Hinduism, Brahmin and other spiritual and philosophical elements.
Even without faith, the temple is still a wonder worth seeing. It creates a strong sense of peace and a spontaneous reverence, without notice requiring silence. Surprisingly besides the strong spiritual message of the temple a park-like complex of the sanctuary also has a small shooting range and the occasional dramatic fencing performances. Elephant and horseback riding, and a number of souvenir stalls are also available.
