Parc de la Tête d'Or lyon . Golden Head Park

The name Parc de la Tête d'Or lyon comes from a legend about a golden sculpture of the head of Christ buried somewhere at the Crusader bases. Is an urban park located in the center of Lyon, and is considered the largest park in France. Inside the park there is a large lake, in the summer there is usually a boating service around the lake. Parc de la Tete d'Or attracts a lot of families coming here to participate in sports activities such as jogging, cycling, ... along with fun attractions such as carousel, zoo, train, puppet show featured.

The park area is about 117 hectares, the central part is a small zoo - home to giraffes, elephants, deer, reptiles, primates and other animals. In 2006, the park opened an African Garden, preserving more than 130 different species of animals, mainly rare species. Nearby is a 16-hectare lake where you can indulge in the pleasures of sailing in the summer.

The park has beautiful lawns, in some places people can walk on the grass, in others it is forbidden because the grass grown on it is very elaborate. There are hundreds of trees in the park, a tree over 100 years old with a height of up to 40 meters, there are all kinds of Lebanese conifers, oak trees from Virginia - USA, ginkgo trees, Louisiana cypress trees - USA...

When visiting the park, it is impossible not to stop by the botanical garden and the rose garden where every year in the flower season one can admire thousands of flowers, each of which is accompanied by a nameplate and origin. In addition, there is a large greenhouse in which one can admire hundreds of tropical plants.

The park is also a place where most of the residents visit and especially many people practice jogging in the park. There are also Guignol puppet shows performed in the park.
