Profile
A theme restaurant located near Radio Mirchi's offices in Lower Parel, Mumbai, The Bombay Canteen is designed in keeping with old Bombay homes.
It has a patio, high ceilings and a central dining room. The exterior is painted red and the architecture is classic, this restaurant doesn't look fancy from the outside, but it's the style of a 1960s Indian canteen. With long tables on patterned tiled floors mustard-colored, it's filled with buzz and chatter, a mix of locals and visitors familiar with the region's Indian favorites.
There is a uniqueness to the menu selection as the food plates here are divided into starters called Chhota, main course called Bada, large plate called Patiala and lunch special called canteen lunch. The dishes here are a combination of regional cuisine and culinary ideas. Diners can get some unique dishes that are hard to find in any other part of India such as pork ribs with Thepla cake or Suv Puri snack with Arbi vegetables, succulent shrimp momos or semolina mixed with cream with mushrooms,...
It also serves innovative Indian cocktails such as the Canteen Punch, which also includes vodka, fruit kokum and roses presented in a beautiful bronze bowl.
