History and Purpose
Founded in 1987 with only six rescued pandas, the Chengdu Research Base has since grown into one of the world’s leading centers for the study, breeding, and conservation of the Giant Panda – a cherished symbol of Chinese culture and biodiversity.
The base aims to merge science with education, offering both protection for endangered species and environmental awareness for visitors worldwide.
