The church is located on the intersection of Rozybakiev and Zhandosov streets and is the largest mosque in the Bostandyk area of Almaty.

The "Baiken" mosque was built on the premises of the casino that has operated for many years at the intersection of Rozybakiyev and Dzhandosov streets. Officially opened on the important day of Islam, Blessed Juma Day (December 5, 2014), Baiken became the largest mosque in the Bostandyk region.

The church was built on the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan - Nursultan Nazarbayev, and named after a prominent statesman - Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of Kazakhstan - Baiken Ashimov. The building of the mosque has 6 floors, an area of ​​​​more than 6000 square meters. The building of the mosque has a traditional golden dome and four minarets. Two underground floors are reserved for parking. The mosque has a division according to typical Islamic architecture: the main hall is used for prayer purposes, the upper part is for the female followers, then the area for the male followers. The "Baiken" mosque has no courtyard as is customary in most mosques in Central Asia. Visitors can enter the church grounds from all sides. For each entrance there is a separate dressing room and shoe cabinet.

The church can accommodate about 3,000 worshipers at a time. Today, Baiken is considered the most modern mosque in Almaty with the largest number of stained glass windows and lighting systems. The sound equipment of the church is also invested and cared for.

The mosque, open daily from 6 am to 9 pm, is an interesting destination for those who are interested in local architecture and want to learn about Islam in Central Asia.
