Day 1: Hanoi – Thai Nguyen – Cao Bang
Depart from Hanoi around 08:00 for a 1.5-hour drive to Thai Nguyen City. On the way, visit the Museum of Cultures of Vietnam's Ethnic Groups, where you'll learn about the diverse cultures and histories of Vietnam's hill tribes. Afterward, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Continue the journey towards Cao Bang City, a mountainous province rich in ethnic diversity, including the Tay, Nung, Dao, and Hmong groups. Arrive in Cao Bang in the late afternoon, with time for a leisurely stroll around town. Overnight in Cao Bang.

Day 2: Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Waterfalls – Cao Bang
Start your day at 08:00 with a visit to a bustling local market in Cao Bang for a simple yet delicious breakfast. Then, head north towards the Chinese border, stopping at a Nung ethnic village known for its handmade incense sticks. Continue to the picturesque blacksmith village of Phuc Sen, renowned for its finely crafted iron knives. Upon reaching the Sino-Vietnamese border, visit the majestic Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of the largest in Vietnam, where the Quay Son River marks the border between Vietnam and China. After a late lunch, explore the impressive Nguom Ngao Cave, known for its stunning limestone formations. Return to Cao Bang in the late afternoon. Overnight in Cao Bang.

Day 3: Cao Bang – Pac Po Cave – Ba Be
Depart at 08:00 for Ba Be National Park. Upon arrival, board a boat to explore the Nang River, which winds through dramatic limestone landscapes and lush rainforests. Visit Puong Grotto, famous for its striking stalagmites and stalactites. Enjoy the tranquil setting of Ba Be Lake, the largest natural lake in Vietnam, where you can relax or take a refreshing swim. Overnight in Ba Be.

Day 4: Ba Be – Hanoi
After breakfast, visit Hua Ma Cave, a dry cave known for its stunning array of stalactites in various shapes and sizes. Return to the village for a local lunch in a homestay, where you’ll experience the warmth and hospitality of the local people. In the afternoon, begin the journey back to Hanoi, with a stop at Cho Da Market (if the market day aligns with your travel dates). Arrive back in Hanoi in the late afternoon.
