Profile
One of the best bakeries in Itaewon, PLANT is also a popular vegetarian restaurant hidden in a small alley behind Itaewon's main road. Although Plant, Itaewon's favorite vegan haven, opened in 2013, its roots date back to 2009 when Plant owner Mipa Lee started her Alien's Day Out blog. Documenting her process of becoming a vegan in Seoul, her following grows from the baked goods she sells online. She finally settled into this cozy one-room restaurant in a neighborhood famous for its bustling expats and tourists.
Inspired by many places where Mipa has lived, such as England, America. and West Africa, the restaurant offers a variety of dishes, including a bowl of Thai peanut soba, chickpea sandwich, kidney beans and lentil peppers, served with homemade vegan corn tortillas, and a Salad served with agave mustard sauce. Although the menu has about two to three dishes at a time, everything is flavorful and nothing is necessarily a "diet food". This is reflected in the delicious desserts on display - red velvet cakes and cupcakes, chocolate thick cakes, banana muffins, coconut biscuits, etc. Looking at the glass behind the counter, diners have understand the level of care of each meal served. Sometimes, diners will see the owner Mipa and be able to chat with Mipa to realize that being vegan isn't just about the food, it's about "trying to live a more compassionate life" in everything she's doing. try to communicate through Plant Café Seoul.
In addition to a varied food menu, Plant Café Seoul also serves craft beers, tap kombucha, smoothies and cold-pressed juices.
