Manjanggul Lava Tube (Manjanggul Cave) is located in Gimnyeong-ri, Gujwaeup, Jeju City. Known as the 12th longest lava tube in the world and the second longest on Jeju Island with a width of up to 23 meters, a height of 30 meters and a length of 8,928 km. This cave has important scientific and heritage value, because although it is old, the preservation conditions are so excellent that it is almost perfect.

From 200,000 to 300,000 years ago, the 456m-high Geomunoreum volcano suddenly erupted, its lava flowing down the coast. This flow is more than 13km long, many lava tubes have been created since then. In which the Manjanggul lava system is currently the largest cave. This system is more than 8000m long, 23m wide, and sometimes up to 30m high. However, because safety is paramount for visitors, Manjanggul cave currently only allows visitors to go as close as 1.6km deep into the cave with a 45-minute to 1-hour walk.

At the magnificent Manjanggul lava road, where there are many colorful and attractive carbonic rock blocks that visitors from all over the world can come here to admire, even marvel at the columns. Old lava, raft lava, lava helictites, corals, stalactites, etc. With the glimmer of light from the light bulb installed, it is quite weak to see but enough to highlight the poetic beauty of the rock samples, reflected on the ground, forming a romantic, unreal scene. This cave is also recorded as the largest bat cave in Korea with more than 30,000 bats living inside. There are also more than 38 other species of creatures, the most prominent being the Jeju spider.

Entering the cave visitors are encouraged to bring torches, flashlights or coats. The air in the cave is quite cold and there is often water dripping down from the ceiling. The lighting system installed in the cave is not too weak, but to experience the trip more completely, visitors should bring lights with them because the deeper they go inside the cave, the darker it becomes. The distance to explore is less than 1.6km, but enough for visitors to be satisfied, countless rock samples with many different shapes are formed from molten lava, eye-catching and interesting. Most of the rock blocks with the most unique shapes will be illuminated by a system of multi-colored lights, creating a mysterious atmosphere for the cave.

Turtle Rock is a stone column not to be missed, it has the shape of a turtle and is quite similar to the shape of Jeju Island, which is why it becomes special. Next to the end of the road, welcoming visitors is a big surprise, just go through the cave wall shaped like a wing, visitors will be able to witness firsthand the most splendid rock in the cave: the giant lava column. , with a height of 7.6m, this is the world's tallest lava column that has been discovered.
