David Ross McCord - an archeology collector, has a desire to contribute to the work of unraveling the history and culture of his country, thereby bringing people closer together. Thus, he founded the McCord Museum in 1921 in a building provided by McGill University. Today, the McCord Museum welcomes more than 150,000 visitors to visit and learn each year.
The McCord Museum has a large collection of Canadian social history, especially about Indigenous peoples. Currently, the museum is holding more than 20,000 objects including costumes, clothing, accessories, quilts and hand-woven products. In addition, McCord also owns more than 1,000 pieces of furniture made from different materials such as silver, ceramics, glass, and items related to food, housewares, toys, and specific tools. sports, .. used in the lives of old Canadians.
When visiting the McCord museum, visitors can also find artifacts and artworks of the first peoples including clothing, accessories, hunting and fishing equipment, weapons of war, ceremonial items, as well as archaeological finds from early Aboriginal cultures. This will give visitors a glimpse into the history of Canadians.
