Profile
Taichung Cultural Heritage Park is located in the grounds of the largest brewery in Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period. It operated independently as an exclusive production facility for Taiwanese liquor until the Taichung city center became overcrowded and it was relocated to a suburb of the city. Most of the building's design is still maintained, and remodeled into one of Taichung's most interesting attractions.
The park's mission is to preserve and promote the nation's tangible and intangible heritage, as well as promote the development of cultural and creative industries. Coming here, you will have the opportunity to witness the ancient architecture in traditional Japanese style, which used to be a large-scale brewery. On any given day, visitors can participate in many activities such as fairs, exhibitions, lectures, performances and art workshops. In addition to art studios showcasing craft products and do-it-yourself classes, you'll also find vintage distillery equipment and the history of regional winemaking. Currently, on the park's premises, there are more than 45 organizations and individuals in charge of production workshops at the complex in areas including ceramics, leather processing, metalworking, performing arts, photography, product design and wood carving. This is also a place that regularly organizes artistic activities from folk performances to modern virtual reality repertoires.
The park is open from 10.00 AM to 06.00 PM on weekdays, no admission fee. From Taichung Station, you can take a short walk, get out of the south exit, then go to the main road. From here, turn right and walk for a few minutes until you reach the park on your left.
