Bread has long been a familiar dish for Vietnamese people, although this dish was imported from France. Based on the original French bread, Vietnamese people added rice flour to create a lighter and crispier bread. Later, people add fillings such as pate, ham, cheese, vegetables to the cake to increase nutrition.
One of Vietnam's best banh mi is Phuong banh mi in Hoi An. At first, Phuong bread was just a small bread stall in Hoi An people's market. When the famous American chef - Anthony Bourdain came to Vietnam to film an episode of the travel show No Reservations, he complimented that this was the best bread he had ever eaten, it was likened to a delivery music. Enjoy inside a sandwich. From then on, Phuong bread became more popular and the shop had a new establishment on Phan Chau Trinh street.
What makes Phuong bread special is the rich filling with more than ten different types including rolls, sausages, ham, pate, sausages, cheese, bacon,... and assorted juices. Sauce is prepared according to its own recipe. Besides, the accompanying vegetables that are put into the bread here are also quite diverse, including cinnamon, cilantro, onions, basil, cucumber, and sweet and sour pickles.
When taking a bite of bread, diners will feel the crispiness of the crust, the fullness of the filling, the freshness of the accompanying vegetables and the rich taste of the sauce. All create a dish full of flavor but not boring.
At Banh Mi Phuong, diners can sit in the area inside the shop or buy and take away as they like.
