It was the site of regular royal ceremonies held on the 5th, 10th, 20th, and 25th of each lunar month, where the emperor received diplomatic missions and hosted lavish banquets during major festivals. Over the years, Cần Chánh Palace has witnessed many important events, serving as a testament to the development of the Nguyen Dynasty.

Can Chanh Palace features impressive architecture, being the largest and most beautiful wooden structure within the Imperial City. The palace is elevated on a nearly 1-meter high platform and covers an area of almost 1,000 square meters, comprising a central hall with five compartments, two double-winged side halls, and a front hall with seven compartments and two single-winged side halls. The entire structure is supported by 80 wooden lim columns, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship of artisans from that era. The intricate carvings on the wooden columns not only hold high artistic value but also reflect the Eastern cultural concept of the universe, representing the harmony between heaven and earth.
