An interesting palace for the princely archbishops of Salzburg
Prince Salzburg Archbishop Markus Sittikus planned Hellbrunn Palace as an oasis of fun and entertainment like never before. This summer residence grew in almost record time, with construction taking place only between 1612 and 1615. Master architect Santino Solari, who was also awarded the contract to build Salzburg Cathedral , created one of the most magnificent Late Renaissance buildings north of the Alps. Visitors to the permanent exhibition "SchauLust" are also invited to explore the rooms and learn more about the history of Hellbrunn. Loving couples ready to tie the knot also find the perfect backdrop here for the best day of their lives.
The fountains - a completely incomparable sight
Salzburg's idyllic location is ideal in many ways: Mount Hellbrunn is an abundant source of natural water, which has certainly become a central design feature of the palace grounds. The centerpiece is powered by a completely unique Mannerist fountain. From mechanical singing orchestras to gushing puddles, to a dancing crown atop the water - the varied and abundant hydraulic attractions never captivate visitors with their uniqueness and remarkable effects. their amazement.
The fountains once used by Markus Sittikus to entertain his guests can still be visited today. Mysterious caves, water-powered characters, and hidden jets are waiting to surprise unsuspecting guests promising great times for all ages. Especially on hot summer days, the Hellbrunn fountain is a welcome place to cool off! Also worth a visit are the rotating artworks offered since 2018 under the auspices of the Park Hellbrunn cultural project sculpture - a project born out of a partnership between the Center for Management and Administration of the Palace, intended to serve above all as an interface between art and humanity. a natural setting.
