The Museum of Air Defense - Air Force belongs to the Political Department of the Air Defense-Air Force of Vietnam, formerly the Traditional House of the Air Defense Force, established in 1958. The museum is ranked second in the museum system. Vietnam, built in 2004 and inaugurated on August 28, 2007. The museum includes outdoor and indoor exhibits.
The outdoor exhibition systematically displays 73 remarkable artifacts, including unique weapons of the air defense and air force such as anti-aircraft guns, radars, aircraft and missiles. Some weapons on display tell the glorious war history, such as the 37mm anti-aircraft gun used by To Vinh Dien in the Dien Bien Phu campaign; air traffic control radar generates electromagnetic waves, used in the Dien Bien Phu aerial campaign, 12 days of bombardment in 1972, MiG-21 aircraft shot down the US B-52 on the night of December 27, 1972 and There are many other artifacts collected from anti-aircraft battles.
The indoor display is designed with a solemn dome symbolizing the peaceful sky of Vietnam. In order to effectively protect the airspace of the Fatherland, over the past 50 years, the air defense force - the air force has fought, won and is constantly developing. In the middle of the building is the statue of President Ho Chi Minh. This section also introduces some pictures of the glorious achievements that the air defense - air force has achieved in more than 50 years of history of the force.
Next is the themed exhibition area with booths introducing typical historical events and important milestones of Vietnam's air defense - air force. More than 3,000 artifacts are displayed under six themes that honestly reflect the heroic history and outstanding achievements of the air defense force - the air force over the past 50 years as well as in the present period.
Each artifact displayed in the building is associated with the outstanding feats of the air defense force - the air force in the resistance wars against France and the United States to save the country. The legend of the Vietnamese army's victory over the world's most powerful air force, equipped with the most modern and advanced weapons at that time, is still attractive to domestic and international tourists. .
