The ancients still believed that the shape was created by the impact of volcanoes, concave deep below, the outer slope is gentler than the inner slope. Although there are no ponds or lakes on the mountain, the trees here are always lush all year round. Legend has it that Ham Rong mountain in Gia Lai is associated with the love history of the Central Highlands of Ro Lan Ly and Chu Hdrong. Legend has it that, Ro Lan Ly was a poor boy but very industrious and hardworking. He has a talent for playing the goong, which is famous throughout the region. The young man made a wish with the beautiful Chu Hdrong (daughter of the chief in the region). One day disaster struck, the evil uncle Ro Mah Hem forced Chu Hdrong to be his wife and shot her dead. Later that place rose up Chu Hdrong mountain, which is Ham Rong mountain today to commemorate that beautiful but tragic love.
