Profile
One of the most iconic parts of West Berlin's post-war reconstruction is the historic Zoobogen building complex designed by architects Paul Schwebes and Hans Schoszberger, built between 1955 and 1957. Berliners nicknamed it Bikini because its two-part architecture reminds them of when the bikini was invented.
Restored between 2012 and 2013, the complex overlooks the Berlin Zoo, with stunning views of the enclosures from the rooftop terrace and panoramic windows overlooking the Bikini Pool. Bikinihaus is the main shopping center building, stretching over 7000 square meters with 3 floors, including a terrace. The space contains a mix of well-known brand stores and concept stores, with a focus on local brands and designers.
Every store is fun and unique, from Gestalten and Flagships Supermarket, to modern stores from Berlin's famous eyewear brand Mykita, Jacks Beauty and a beautiful Adidas customization studio. Food and dining is at the heart of Bikini with many restaurants and cafes at each entrance. In addition, a 3,300 square meter space located in the center of the building houses nineteen wooden designed boxes for permanent pop-up stores of emerging start-up brands.
This very “Made in Berlin” style is what makes Bikini Berlin stand out from the crowd and is a good reason to visit.
