Saint Joseph's Basilica is a Roman Catholic cathedral and national shrine in the city of Montreal.
In 1914, the church of Saint-Joseph was founded, then the church was just a small shrine on the slopes of the Royal Mountain. Three years later, the church was expanded to accommodate about 1,000 people. And it was not until 1924 that the construction of the Saint-Joseph church was officially started based on the drawings of Father Paul Bellot. In particular, the dome of the church was made miraculously in the years 1937 - 1939 and this is also the third largest dome in the world compared to domes of the same design. By 1967, the church of Saint-Joseph completed its construction and is in operation to this day.
On October 19, 2004, Saint-Joseph Church celebrated its 100th anniversary and also on this occasion, the church was awarded the title of a national historical monument of Canada.
