Water puppetry is a traditional folk art form unique only in Vietnam, a special creation of the Vietnamese people. Water puppetry has been around for more than 10 centuries, associated with the nation's wet rice culture. Over time, through the transmission of water puppetry from generation to generation, it has become an elegant hobby for many people.

Currently, water puppet shows have begun to be implemented to serve the needs of people as well as international tourists when coming to Vietnam. The typical images of water puppetry such as the image of Uncle Teu, fairies, dragons and phoenixes, young shepherds herding buffalo, etc. make many impressions on viewers.

Golden Dragon Water Puppet Theater was established on August 3, 2007. After more than 10 years of operation, the theater has become the leading place to watch water puppetry in Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, the Golden Dragon Water Puppet Theater has 2 performances per day (17:00 and 18:30). The duration of each session is 30 minutes. The capacity of the stage is about 200 seats.
