More than just a beverage, coffee plays an important role in Vietnamese daily life, social gatherings, and local traditions. During this interactive workshop, you will discover how Vietnamese coffee culture developed over centuries and why it has become one of the country's most beloved traditions.

Led by a local coffee instructor, the experience introduces the history of Vietnamese coffee, the influence of French colonization, and the unique characteristics that distinguish Vietnamese coffee from coffee cultures around the world.

You will learn about various traditional brewing methods, taste different styles of Vietnamese coffee, and prepare your own authentic drinks, including the famous Vietnamese egg coffee. This hands-on cultural experience offers a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s coffee heritage while providing practical skills that you can bring home.

08:30 – 08:45 (14:00 – 14:15): Hotel pick-up

Our guide will pick you up at your hotel in Hoi An and transfer you to a local coffee workshop.

Upon arrival, enjoy a warm welcome and an introduction to Vietnam’s rich coffee traditions.

08:45 – 09:30 (14:15 – 15:00): Introduction to Vietnamese coffee culture

Begin the experience by exploring the history and development of coffee in Vietnam.

Topics include:

The arrival of coffee during the French colonial period.
The growth of Vietnam as one of the world's largest coffee producers.
The role of coffee in Vietnamese daily life.
Differences between Vietnamese coffee and Western coffee cultures.
The importance of cafés as social and cultural spaces.

09:30 – 10:15 (15:00 – 15:45): Discover traditional Vietnamese coffee styles

Learn about several popular Vietnamese coffee varieties and brewing techniques, including:

Traditional Vietnamese black coffee (Cà Phê Đen)
Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk (Cà Phê Sữa Đá)
Coconut coffee
Salt coffee
Egg coffee (Cà Phê Trứng)

Taste different coffee styles while learning about the ingredients and preparation methods.

10:15 – 11:30 (15:45 – 17:00): Hands-on coffee making workshop

Under the guidance of a local coffee expert, prepare your own Vietnamese coffee using traditional phin filters.

The highlight of the workshop is making Vietnamese Egg Coffee, a rich and creamy specialty that originated in Hanoi and has become one of Vietnam’s most famous coffee drinks.

Participants will:

Learn proper brewing techniques.
Understand coffee extraction methods.
Prepare and decorate their own beverages.
Enjoy the coffee they create.

This interactive session allows you to gain practical skills that can easily be recreated at home.

11:30 – 12:00 (17:00 – 17:30): Coffee tasting and cultural exchange

Conclude the experience by enjoying your freshly prepared coffee while engaging in conversation with your local instructor.

Take this opportunity to ask questions about Vietnamese culture, daily life, and coffee traditions.

After the workshop, transfer back to your hotel.
