Day 1: Hanoi – Thai Nguyen – Ba Be

Begin your adventure with an early morning departure from Hanoi. Head to Thai Nguyen, home to the renowned Museum of Ethnology. Continue through scenic landscapes to Na Phac and Cho Ra, with a stop for a local lunch. In the afternoon, explore the serene Ba Be National Park with a relaxing boat cruise on Ba Be Lake. Overnight at a cozy local hotel in Ba Be.

Day 2: Ba Be – Meo Vac

After breakfast, drive through the charming town of Tinh Tuc and explore Bao Lac village, home to the San Chi and Lo Lo ethnic groups. The journey continues along the dramatic Gam River, ascending steep mountains to reach Meo Vac in Ha Giang province. Overnight in Meo Vac, surrounded by stunning mountain views.

Day 3: Meo Vac – Dong Van – Yen Minh – Quan Ba

Journey over the spectacular Ma Pi Leng Pass, offering panoramic views of towering peaks and the winding Nho Que River. Visit the Vuong Dynasty mansion, a historical relic of H’mong architecture. Continue to Dong Van, where you can explore the vibrant weekend market. The day ends in Quan Ba after visiting Lung Cam and enjoying the stunning landscapes of Yen Minh Pass. Overnight in Quan Ba.

Day 4: Quan Ba – Ha Giang – Hoang Su Phi

Depart Quan Ba, passing through lush forests and tea farms, and take in the awe-inspiring terraced rice fields as you travel to Hoang Su Phi. After checking in, spend the afternoon exploring the area, enjoying the scenic views of terraced fields and ethnic villages. Overnight in Hoang Su Phi with dinner at your lodge.

Day 5: Hoang Su Phi

Start your day with a guided hike through villages of the Yao and Red Dao ethnic groups. Trek through terraced rice fields, bamboo forests, and along river valleys, experiencing local hospitality with a traditional lunch. The hike continues in the afternoon to a Tay village before returning to your lodge. Overnight in Hoang Su Phi with an included dinner.

Day 6: Hoang Su Phi – Hanoi

After breakfast, bid farewell to the mountains and begin the journey back to Hanoi. Arrive in the late afternoon, with memories of an unforgettable adventure in Vietnam’s far north.

• Harvesting time is usually at the end of Sep & early October. Just before harvesting, rice fields will be yellow-green.
