Since ancient times, embroidery and needles have become the best friends of Vietnamese women. At that time, the art of embroidery became one of the measures of a woman's dignity. The image of graceful women working on street vendors was once a very familiar sight that every elderly person has fond memories of when going to work. Although it is no longer popular today, coming to XQ Su Quan, one can still admire with their own eyes the women in Vietnamese traditional costumes "ao dai" with lovely embroidery.
Established in 1999, XQ is the brainchild of Mrs. Hoang Le Xuan, a royal woman born in Hue, and her husband, Mr. Vo Van Quan. They are a talented couple of artists who first came up with the idea of combining embroidery and traditional paintings. Different from an ordinary painting created with pencil or brush, handmade silk embroidery is interwoven with traditional music, poetry and painting. Artists believe that working in the right atmosphere is important to express the ideas and beauty that the artist creates. Thus, one can listen to music and poetry in the workspace, which is not only a gallery but also a place where artists are most active and creative.
With its ancient architecture, amazing works of art and the craftsmen at work it is a unique cultural site for anyone visiting Nha Trang. If you're a fan of fine art, it's even more impressive, and you'll want to bring something home with you. They say “A picture says a thousand words”, but the original works here are even more expressive, representing a thousand years of Vietnamese art, culture and tradition.
