Lying along both sides of the pier are rows of "artistic" warehouses, the sea breeze, the boats coming in and out of the harbor, the immense sea and sky, all giving you a feeling of relaxation, forgetting about the chaos of the city. worry and immerse yourself in a settled art space. Artists call this a place where the land and the vast ocean meet, between art and life.
On either side of the pier are clusters of art warehouses. Not only is there an unlimited flow of cars, boats, sea breezes and people coming in and out every day, but when looking at the vast sea and sky, people also feel relaxed, relieve stress with endless thoughts. On Taiwan's national day, October 10, 2000, celebratory fireworks are not only launched in Taipei. For the first time, the government also decided to hold fireworks in southern Taiwan. And the Pier-2 warehouse right next to the gentle harbor was chosen for the memorable fireworks display.
In 2006, Kaohsiung City Culture Bureau took over Pier-2 Art Center and since then started a series of exhibitions and festivals such as Kaohsiung Design Festival, Chinese Characters Exhibition, Festival Kaohsiung International Iron & Steel Sculpture, Kaohsiung International Container Art Festival, “Here comes Kaohsiung”, Mega Port Festival, Wall Moon Theater, Kaohsiung Youth Creative Design Exhibition … With creative vibes full of life, each exhibition or performance attracts a large number of visitors. The center is open daily from 10.00 AM to 08.00 PM.
