Also known as Boat Noodles Alley, this place is often crowded with locals and students to enjoy this unique noodle dish.
Since the eateries serve this noodle dish on boats along the canal near the Bangkok Victory Monument, it is called "Boat Noodles". Small bowls of lotus lek (rice vermicelli) or ba mee (yellow egg noodles) served with meat or tom yum soup, topped with herbs. You can choose between beef, pork or fish balls. To make the dish more delicious, you can add dried chili and fish sauce.
The small size of the bowl is the unique feature of Boat Noodles Alley in Bangkok. It is common to see locals ordering dozens of bowls at once, which are then stacked high on the table. For those who eat more than 10 bowls of noodles, they are usually rewarded with a free glass of water. A bowl of Thai boat noodles usually costs around 20 baht, but it depends on the side dishes you order.
Most noodle restaurants in Bangkok serve servings of a meal, but at Boat Noodles Alley still has a long tradition of providing small bowls - this helps prevent noodles from spilling when eat on the boat.
Opening hours: Restaurants at Hem Mi Boat are open every day of the week from 10:30 to 21:00. Sometimes there are still shops that open earlier and close later.
You can get to Victory Monument Boat Noodle Alley by taking the BTS train to Victory Monument Station (Anusawari). Take the long elevated boardwalk north through the roundabout, and walk down a few steps overlooking the canal. The Row of Noodles is located on the right hand side, so it is easy to find.
