Located in the grounds of Cuc Phuong National Park, the Endangered Primate Rescue Center was established in early 1993 with the aim of rescuing and taking care of Vietnam's rare primates and then returning them to their homeland. back to the wild environment. Visiting Cuc Phuong National Park, visitors not only have the opportunity to freely explore the rich and diverse flora and fauna, but also see with their own eyes the rare primates that are taken advantage of by the staff at the rescue center. care love. This is the first rescue center for endangered wild primates in Indochina.

Currently, the center is a place to rescue and care for 16 primate species with more than 180 individuals, most of the primates here are victims of wildlife trafficking cases discovered by forest rangers. Most of them are in very weak health and have many injuries. After being treated by dedicated staff, they will be returned to the wild natural environment. Here, visitors will be able to see a number of rare and endangered primate species, all of which are listed in the Red Book of Vietnam, such as Cat Ba Langur, White-Butt Langur, and Gray-shanked Douc langur.

In addition to the rescue mission, the center also performs the role of researching and surveying the natural environment to ensure a suitable location for the diversity of food as well as climatic conditions and water sources. individuals can reintegrate back into the wild. Every day, individuals consume nearly 300-400 kilograms of leaves belonging to more than 100 species of trees, which are taken from planted forests and ecological restoration areas in the campus of Cuc Phuong National Park.

Walking around the center, you will stumble upon the brown-shanked douc langur, also known as red-shanked douc or iridescent langur, honored by the international wildlife protection organization as the "queen" of Vietnam. primates inhabit deep forests. The most unique is the white shorts langur or the white rump langur, which is considered the symbol of Cuc Phuong National Park. This rare animal only exists in Vietnam with more than 300 individuals scattered in 18 separate areas in the provinces of Ninh Binh, Ha Nam, Hoa Binh and Thanh Hoa.

Not only saving and taking care of rare primates to bring them back to the wild, the center also successfully mated and helped breed 155 new individuals, including 19 Ha Tinh langurs, 15 gray-shanked douc langurs, 7 small loris and other species such as white-backed langur, gibbons. This is considered an important task to contribute to the conservation of genetic resources of rare and endangered wildlife species.
