The capital Nursultan is located in the middle of a vast steppe. More than 15 years ago, no one would have thought that this city would turn into one of the fastest growing capitals in the world. What's more, more surprising is that it is gradually becoming one of the big cities covered with natural green patches. In addition to being famous for its many shopping malls and museums, Nursultan also offers the opportunity to enjoy green spaces in various parks, the most famous one being the Nursultan Botanical Gardens.
The idea of establishing a green space in the city arose in the late 2000s. The project to build the Botanical Garden was started in 2016. However, it was delayed and was finally opened to the public. visited on July 2, 2018, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Capital's Founding Day. The opening ceremony was attended by President Nazarbayev. The Botanical Garden covers 92 hectares, of which 63 hectares are covered with trees and 17.7 hectares are used for scientific research. The park has about 34,000 trees and 86 thousand bushes brought from Europe, Asia and North America. There is also a greenhouse operating alongside eight laboratories. This is really a perfect relaxing place with a vast, endless natural green area.
The Botanical Garden was built to create a comfortable relaxing environment for all ages, all subjects such as pedestrians, joggers and cyclists. Depending on the color of the lane corresponds to your unique needs. In addition, within the Botanical Garden, there are more than 21 sports facilities and playgrounds for adults and children. Remember to prepare snacks and drinks in advance as no stalls are allowed in this area.
