This museum was established on September 4, 1975 with the name "The American-Weire Crime Gallery". On November 10, 1990, the name was changed to "Invasive War Crimes Gallery". On July 4, 1995 (a week before US President Bill Clinton announced the normalization of diplomatic relations with Vietnam), this museum changed its name to "War Remnants Museum" as it is today. .
War Remnants Museum displays a number of artifacts and images from the Vietnam War with the following themes: American soldiers massacred, tortured, imprisoned people, sprayed toxic chemicals, and dropped bombs to destroy the North. Artifacts such as airplanes, cannons, tanks, guillotines and two compartments "tiger cages" were built to the same size as those in Con Dao prison. There are galleries about: Southwest border war, Northern border defense war, Truong Sa archipelago issue, conspiracy of hostile forces... Outside, the museum has booths. display and introduce Vietnamese national cultural products, Vietnam water puppetry room.
