Enjoying afternoon tea in the garden or on the terrace of Raming Tea house is a delightful way to end a busy day exploring Chiang Mai. This beautiful old teak house was renovated in 2002 and now houses a shop selling products of Siam Celadon, a famous ceramic brand in Northern Thailand. The rear of Raming Tea House has a garden where you can enjoy peace and quiet.

Located on Tha Pae Road, Raming Tea House is not difficult to spot, a beautifully restored 19th-century white building in Chiang Mai. The inside is as well preserved as the outside, occupying mainly the ground floor with lovely tea rooms overlooking the tree-lined garden behind, perfect for enjoying a cup of tea and a few snacks. If you want to enjoy a different view of the Raming Tea House then head up to the terrace, the walls around the terrace are covered with a beautiful collection of pottery and the intricately carved balustrade.

Pottery is also displayed in front of the Raming Tea House with many types and beautiful designs. The pottery technique here is of Chinese origin, but was taught to people living in Northern Thailand in the 12th and 13th centuries. The ancient designs and colors are still popular, but today people Siam Celadon's potters have diversified from the original color, which was a pale jade color, to create more products in vibrant blue (using cobalt) and smoky black. The motifs on the pottery are inspired by Thai agricultural products such as watermelon, mangosteen and lotus.

Once you've stepped inside, the Raming Tea House is sure to make you want to stay longer, the cafe at the back is designed to serve light lunches and afternoon tea. The menu is varied with a wide range of international snacks and Thai dishes, from beef burgers to a Thai tea set that includes fresh spring rolls and seasonal fruit. However, the highlight here are the teas that include a blend of green, black and fruit teas. In addition, smoothies and juices are also worth noting.
