As a place of entertainment for all generations, there are many cultural and fun activities held in the Hanoi Walking Street area including folk games, concerts, New Year celebrations, performances. Music performance on the sidewalk, dance competition…

One of the interesting activities held at the Hanoi Pedestrian Street is the Vietnamese Folk Game. These games usually take place on Saturday and Sunday nights, when most children are there. Some popular games are: jump rope, tug of war, mandarin box, shuttlecock, etc. You can join the crowd if you want to play and the locals will be very friendly to explain the rules if you don't understand. There are many types of games suitable for both children and adults, so you can take your kids there without worry. These folk games will bring you interesting and unforgettable experiences, as well as an opportunity to connect with people and bring you back to your childhood life.

Since its inception, there have been many groups of artists performing on the streets of the pedestrian area. These performances vary in style, from Latin songs to folk, orchestral, light music, V-POP, K-POP and US-UK songs. You can give them a round of applause to encourage them and thank them for bringing joy to the streets.

Furthermore, as the “Public K-POP” trend is gaining popularity among the younger generation, you will also see many dance groups covering popular K-POP songs. If you go to the pedestrian street on Saturday and Sunday, you will be amazed by the skills these dance groups have, even though most of them are very young, only 17-23 years old.

Walking street is also a place to welcome the new year. Every year at 00:00 on January 1, people from all over the world gather here to countdown to welcome a new year. Before midnight, there is usually a concert held by Heineken right on the pedestrian street with many famous artists performing. Then, on the stage screen, a countdown table will appear 1 hour before entering the new year. On this day, the pedestrian street is extremely crowded so it is difficult to navigate. Although the event was fun, there have been many cases of people fainting because of the crowd, so if you are not used to it, you should not try to wriggle into it.

Besides cultural and entertainment activities, you can also find many portrait artists around Hoan Kiem Lake. It will only take about half an hour to have your own portrait. Moreover, you will also have the opportunity to listen to many interesting stories that come from the diverse experiences of the artists.
