The Peranakan Museum is a relatively new attraction in Phuket, where you will be transported back in time to experience Phuket of the past through galleries of art, culture, history, traditions and passages. lives of local people. The museum has combined local knowledge with modern technology to increase interaction and enhance the visitor experience.
The first room of the museum explains the beginnings and development history of the Peranakans (descendants of the ancient Chinese). The second room provides information on Sino-Portuguese architecture, a fusion of European and Asian architecture that is very popular in Phuket. It also explains how people design their homes based on cultural beliefs as well as the function of the building.
The third room of the Peranakan Phuket museum displays the interior design of the rooms in the house. Starting from the entrance, living room, kitchen, bedroom and common area. Some of the decorations on display are original while others are reproductions based on old photographs. All rooms vividly display how Phuket people lived in the past.
Since the museum is quite small, it doesn't take you long to tour around. Even so, there's a lot of fun to see and learn. You can dress up in old Phuket clothes at a photo studio in the museum to capture memorable moments. The beautiful Yaya Kitchen and Café Pinana serve refreshments throughout the day at the Peranakan Phuket.
